Electricore President & CEO, Mr. Ike Bayraktar and Executive Director, Ms. Deborah Jelen attended a luncheon hosted by the Los Angeles World Affairs Council with guest speaker Admiral Thad Allen; Former Commandant of the U.S. Coast Guard Tuesday, April 19, 2011. Admiral Allen gave a speech entitled, "Managing the Unexpected: Leadership in Times of Crisis."

TREXA joined Electricore as a Participant in June 2010.  TREXA was founded to develop durable, high performance lithium systems for demanding electric drive applications.  TREXA develops solutions including:

·         Small, task-oriented vehicles and highly specialized utility vehicles for commercial, municipal and military fleets
·         Test beds or prototyping mules for developers of vehicle systems and transportation designers

PRCI and Partners Complete Consolidated Research Program on the Assessment Methods for Corroded Pipe. The team included BP, PHMSA, GL Noble Denton, and Electricore. The program consists of six separate projects that address external corrosion to pipelines. TOXCO Inc., has been awarded 9.5 million dollars from the Department of Energy to expand their current battery recycling operations in Lancaster, Ohio. Toxco plans to build and operate an advanced lithium battery recycling facility at their existing Lancaster, Ohio site. The new plant will be built to support the battery recycling infrastructure that will be needed with the growth of hybrid and electric vehicles in the United States all of which use large format rechargeable batteries.

Electricore, Inc. will attend the Algae World Summit 2010, May 17-19 in San Diego, CA. The emerging "algae to fuel industry" offers an opportunity for sustainable bio-fuels. Several Electricore Consortium Participants are engaged in research and development of algae biofuel.

Electricore Program Manager, Hector Morales, attended the unveiling of the City of Burbank's first plug-in fuel cell bus. A plug-in hybrid, the 35 foot bus is powered by a hydrogen fuel cell. Burbank also installed a hydrogen refueling station to service the new bus. The innovative program was funded by the California Air Resources Board and the California Energy Commission.

 

Cal Poly SLO, an Electricore Consortium Participant, is building a technology park as part of their California Central Coast Research Park (C3RP). Jim Dunning leads the effort. The building will be complete in May 2010.

On behalf of the Richard G. Lugar Center for Renewable Energy at Indiana University Purdue University-Indianapolis (IUPUI) Electricore is pleased to announce Ike Bayraktar's acceptance as a new Member of the  Richard Lugar Advisory Board. "The Lugar Center for Renewable Energy (LCRE) is established to address the urgent societal need for clean, affordable, and renewable energy sources. The Center's primary mission is to promote impactful research, education, technology transfer, international collaboration, and public policy in the area of renewable and sustainable energy."
